If you are looking for an opportunity to take your learning into the outdoors, this is the course for you!
The adventure, challenge and exhilaration that comes with being outdoors is an experience that you will get in this course. The outdoors presents many learning and growth opportunities. In particular to this course, you will be learning about leadership that leads to an effective team and how to manage risk to ensure your own and others safety.
In groups you will be working towards planning and running an outdoor activity for the other groups in the class. As you work together in your group, you will learn about leadership strategies that will help you to run an effective team - teamwork makes the dream work. Individually, you will be looking at the risks of a challenging outdoor activity and come up with strategies to manage those risks effectively. Your safety is paramount, especially in a high risk environment such as the outdoors. The more informed and prepared you are, the safer and enjoyable the outdoors will be. There are two parts of this assessment - part 1 is reflective logs based on the leadership strategies you chose to apply and part 2 is a written report on risk management.
