Growth - Make the Wall into a Mural

Course Description

How would you like to leave your signature mark within your own community? A permanent mark that reflects your identity through stories relevant to you, your community and your culture. A mark that can be seen and appreciated by others in a place urban or rural, so why don’t you make that wall into a mural? This course is focused on mural research, design and creation. You will first study various murals by looking at how they are created, the stories they tell and how they reflect their own environments. This will be followed by studying a potential location for your own mural creation. Based on what you have learnt, you will then be able to design your own unique mural that relates to the location and reflects its community. This project has a written component , which will be shown with your body of work. You will be able to develop your understanding of how to use a wide-range of Drawing and Painting tools to support your learning in this project.

You will: Study existing designs of Murals, environments and their stories to inform your work. This research is to help with your mural creation. Develop a series of mural designs that is relevant to the mural location, using a variety of Art tools. Write about your mural design and consider how arrangement of colour, line,space, shape and form has been applied. Create an Art portfolio, which will include your mural studies, designs and final mural creation. Prepare a method of presenting and communicating your body of work.
