Course Description

This course is about the ways of seeing, understanding and responding to Artwork. You can experience visits to an Art Gallery or museum and learn about the history of contemporary Pacific Art in Aotearoa, artwork from Feaudal japan or the famous Renaissance paintings from Leonardo Da Vinci, Boticceli or Carravagio. Some of the broad topics that you could also investigate are Women and Art;Society and Artists;Identity and Art;Commissions and Artists’ art works;Religion and Art & Politics and Art.
You will:
Be writing an article for an Art history magazine(800-1000words in length), conducting research on a Art History topic of your choice.
Communicate a considered personal response to Artworks at an art exhibition, public art display, museum, or art objects existing in your home or school environment
Prepare a method of presenting and communicating your response in relation to your selected artwork/s and Art history topic of inquiry.
