Growth - Whose ‘his’story? Restoring by re-storying ‘her’story!
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mrs K. Taranaki.
Studying the past makes it possible for things to change in the future. In this course by changing the lens of learning, you will travel in time and critically analyse feminist history, from the role of women in ancient civilizations right through to our present day. You will explore key themes which impact women, such as; the birth of patriarchy, the notion of women as property, knowledge and power dynamics (who writes history?), women’s rights and so much more. This course looks at ‘restoring and re-storying’, traditional perspectives and “his” stories, which often classify women as either victims or heroines. In Whose ‘his’ story? Restoring by re-storying ‘her’ story! you are required to research the problematic in order to discover lesser known and alternative views. You will study about women throughout the ages who created waves of change in their worlds, as they carved out their own independent identities.
