Course Description

What would you like to say to the world? Would you like to capture your audience’s attention in a fascinating and unique way? This course will use Art and Design methods to create new ways of getting your idea or story across to the world. This course is centred around concept design, idea creation,and storytelling. You will create compelling characters and engaging worlds that enhance either an existing story or your own. This project combines a written component , which will be presented alongside your body of work. You will be able to develop your understanding of how to use a wide-range of Art and Design tools that are used in the Creative Industry.
You will:
Study existing designs of Characters, environments and their stories to inform your work. This could be from a novel,poem/ song,short story, film, comic, Artwork. You will create a variety of compelling characters and worlds that enhance either an existing story or your own. Develop your own character and/or world using a variety of tools. Write about your character and environment design. How do they enhance an existing story or your own? Create an Art portfolio, which will include your character creations and world designs. This will show your journey from the study of existing Design concepts, planning, development of ideas, and the creation of final resolved work/s. Prepare a method of presenting and communicating your body of work.

You will be assessed in this course through all or a selection of the standards listed below.
